Bishop C. Anthony Muse and Clergy Unite Upper Marlboro, Maryland – September 5, 2005 - Over the last week, signs of the devastation in the Gulf States from Hurricane Katrina have prompted Bishop C. Anthony Muse, Pastor of The Ark of Safety Christian Church and leader of Clergy United, an organization of over 150 pastors in the area to unite with clergy and community leaders in Prince George’s County and the Washington, DC-Baltimore area to assist in the relief efforts in the Gulf Coast. Bishop Muse and Clergy United have initially pledged to raise a minimum of Fifty Thousand Dollars with a goal of One Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars. Beginning tonight, Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at 8pm at the Ark of Safety Christian Church, 9402 Marlboro Pike, Upper Marlboro, Md, the Ark will raise funds, clothing and other needed items as part of their ongoing contribution to the efforts. They will begin their effort by collecting clothing and monetary donations through an ongoing relief campaign. They are also using the “Victory House”, a shelter for domestic violence victims to house a family. Bishop Muse is asking the local churches to stand with him in assisting their brothers and sisters in New Orleans and surrounding area to mobilize and rebuild their churches and communities. Bishop Muse will host an Interdenominational Relief Prayer Service on Sunday, September 24th from 5pm-6pm at Ark of Safety Christian Church, 9402 Marlboro Pike, Upper Marlboro, MD. At that time, other churches will present their pledges and other needed items. We invite our friends and family in the community to participate in the clothing and monetary fund drive for the benefit of victims of Hurricane Katrina. Collection points will be available Monday through Friday from 10 am to 8 pm at the Ark Of Safety Christian Church, 9402 Marlboro Pike, Upper Marlboro, MD. We will be collecting cash, checks or gift cards (phone, gas, food, department stores, hotels, etc.) in any denomination for distribution to Hurricane Katrina victims.
